The best streaming service fans of horror could ever have, Shudder always has numerous frightening films for its subscribers to enjoy. With winter having just begun, it’s the perfect time to stay home and share a scary movie night with friends. Thankfully, the streaming platform has a slew of movies ready to be added to their catalog next month that audiences won’t want to pass up.
With original Shudder films and plenty of Shudder exclusives, the streaming service is the only place audiences will be able to watch most of what’s slated to arrive in January. Whether viewers prefer psychological thrillers or gory slashers, the streaming platform has them covered. As always, whichever type of horror film audiences are looking to watch, they’re likely to find it on Shudder next month.
'The Wolfman' (2010)

A remake of the 1941 film of the same name, The Wolfman follows an aristocrat named Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro's) whose childhood in the Victorian town of Blackmoor was marred by trauma. His mother died when he was young, and his father, Sir John Talbot (Sir Anthony Hopkins), was sent to an insane asylum. Lawrence then left for America. However, after receiving a distressing letter from his brother’s fiancé, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), he returns home to his father’s estate.

'Get Away'

Written by Nick Frost and directed by Steffen Haars, Get Away is a horror comedy that follows the Smith family’s vacation to the remote island of Svalta in Sweden, where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Seemingly innocuous at first, everything takes a dark turn after they arrive amid local preparations for a mysterious festival meant to celebrate a terrifyingly dark history.
However, the Smith family refuses to be deterred from their much-needed holiday, at least at first. Certainly unsettled by the strange and rather unfriendly locals, they still attempt to make the best of their trip. Stubborn as ever, they choose to enjoy the island’s natural beauty and isolation. However, as the festival quickly approaches, the Smiths realize it’s possible that something more sinister is afoot. The film stars Nick Frost, Aisling Bea, Sebastian Croft, and Maisie Ayres. Get Away is streaming on January 10.

'Red Rooms'

Written and directed by Pascal Plante, Red Rooms is a French-language psychological thriller that follows a woman named Kelly-Anne (Juliette Gariépy) who is obsessed with the high-profile case of serial killer Ludovic Chevalier (Maxwell McCabe-Lokos). With the case now at trial, Kelly-Anne wakes up every morning in order to snag a seat at the courthouse.
A lonely woman with an odd fascination, she encounters another groupie named Clémentine (Laurie Babin), who momentarily subdues her sadness. As the trial continues, Keely-Anne struggles to maintain the line between reality and fantasy. With her morbid fixation growing, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain any sort of psychological balance. As a result, she does whatever it takes to find the killer’s missing video of a 13-year-old girl he murdered, who happens to bear a disturbing resemblance to Kelly-Anne.

Directed by Sasha Rainbow, Grafted is a gory Shudder Original that follows a Chinese scholarship student named Wei who travels to New Zealand in order to study groundbreaking medical research at one of the country’s most prestigious universities. Intelligent but incredibly socially awkward, Wei is ultimately shunned by her cousin Angela, who is a flourishing social butterfly with various glamour friends.
Determined to be pretty and popular, Wei is willing to do anything it takes to fulfill those dreams. As a result, she immerses herself in the research conducted by her late father, who was working on a revolutionary skin grafting procedure that would have cured the genetic facial birthmark Wei inherited. However, her experiments begin to take a dark turn, and she becomes increasingly unhinged. Starring Jess Hong as both Wei and Angela, Grafted isn’t a film for the faint of heart. Grafted is streaming on January 24.
